In departure from the norm for Porsche, the Cayenne will soon be available with a diesel engine. The unit is borrowed from Audi, part of the VW Group in which Porsche owns a high quantity of share.

I have always believed that when you write an assessment of the car, you should always judge a car not for whether it strikes a chord with you personally, but for how well it does the job for which it was designed. ‘Fitness for purpose’, I think it’s called. And in the case of this new Aston Martin DB9 Volante this enables me to do something I’ve never done in well over a thousand car tests. For my next trick I shall tell you how good this car is without reference to a single technical statistic and without offering the smallest personal opinion. Sitting comfortably?

VW Group is finally achieving synergies between Audi and Lamborghini.
At the Detroit Motor Show next month, Audi will debut the R8 V10, the fastest production R8 yet. The R8 V10 will come with a 5.2 liter V10 engine producing 528 hp, the same as in the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4. This power plant has also previously appeared in the R8 LMS GT3 racer.

Mercedes SL63 AMG :: Click on the picture to enlarge
Images and engine details have surfaced that take the new SL 63 AMG to its own heights. AMG has not been too shy to exploit the potential of the 6.2-litre V8, going as much as 450kW/ 603 bhp in some models (limited only by the inability of engineers to cool down the unit effectively). But we know there’s more potential here. For now though the SL 63 is the new one to watch.
